Rita Wehseler

Rita and her husband, Bill, own Stoney Creek Kennels along the beautiful North Shore of Lake Superior. She was introduced to mushing by a friend 28 years ago—and quickly fell in love with the sport and the dogs that make it possible. Over the years, Rita has raced in the Klondike three times and brings 29 years of mushing experience to the trails. Some of her most notable teammates include Ski, Boo, and Hawk—dogs that hold a special place in her heart. When she’s not out running the dogs, you’ll likely find Rita in the kitchen, happily baking up something delicious.
