GRAVE TROTTERS — MELROSE, MINNESOTA
Linus has been mushing since 1995, when he first hit the trails with a small recreational team of five dogs. Today, his kennel—located just north of Meire Grove in central Minnesota—houses 16 Alaskan Huskies, including six well-deserved retirees. Linus entered his first race, the Mid-Minn 150, in 1997 and has been competing in sled dog races across the upper Midwest ever since. A retired farmer and conservation technician, Linus credits his wife, Ileta—also retired and his biggest supporter—for helping make it all possible. With 30 years of mushing experience, he’s thrilled to take on his first Klondike as a Rookie with lead dogs Pearl and Tequila. When he’s not on the trails, Linus enjoys hobby farming and spending time outdoors.
