Mark grew up in Brooklyn Center, MN. As a child, he spent a great deal of time at his family cabin in northern Minnesota, where he found a true appreciation for the outdoors. He is an avid hunter and outdoorsman.

Mark was drawn into the sport of dog mushing by his wife in 2010. Mark already had a passion for working with sporting dogs, and it was an easy leap to find the same appreciation for the drive and athleticism of sled dogs. He has since run several races in Michigan, Wisconsin, and Minnesota. Mark serves as the Trail Boss for the Klondike Dog Derby.

Mark attended the University of Minnesota, Carlson School of Management. He has worked in finance for several Minnesota companies and currently serves as the Chief Financial Officer for Optum Health in Eden Prairie. Mark currently resides with his wife Amy and three kids in Maple Lake, MN. They have a kennel of 25 sled dogs and 2 sporting dogs.
