AMY FLAKNE

MUSHER REPRESENTATIVE

Amy grew up in southern Minnesota. From playing with cats and rabbits on her grandpa’s farm to walking the neighbor’s Shetland pony around the block, to showing cattle for 4-H, she took every opportunity to spend time with animals.

In 2010, Amy decided to connect with a local dog musher. Over the next few years, she helped train and race dogs, eventually building a kennel of her own. Amy now owns and operates a kennel of 25 sled dogs, and has raced in Michigan, Wisconsin, and Minnesota. She embraces the dog mushing lifestyle, and cannot imagine life without dogs. Amy serves as the Musher Representative for the Klondike Dog Derby.

Amy attended North Dakota State University. She has worked as a volunteer with animal rescues for many years. Amy currently resides in Maple Lake, MN with her husband Mark, three kids, 27 dogs, and 2 cats.
